Happy Father's Day!

Our Father's Day

This is the single most day of the year we get to celebrate the existence of fathers all around the globe. It’s Father’s Day! So how did you celebrate this day?

Well, as for me it was a simple yet worthwhile one this year. We spent Father’s Day in the cinema, watching “Jurassic World;” me, my son and my celebrant husband.  Before that, we ate lunch first at a fast food chain specializing in fried chicken. We didn’t have much choice in choosing where to eat because the little boy is the boss.

So after lunch we went inside the cinema. After that we bought a cake, had the bakers put a “Happy Father’s Day” dedication and went home. That’s how simple our celebration was. Nevertheless, as simple as it was; we all went home happy with big smiles on our faces.

Why? Because we spent the whole day together, bonding as a family. No worries about work or school, just plainly enjoying each moment with each other.

A Happy Family

Our family is a simple one. We are not rich, nor are we poor but we are happy and healthy. I as a wife am contented with having a husband like mine. I have a husband who understands and puts up with my imperfections. He loves me completely with all my positive and negative aspects.

My son is happy having a father who plays with him when I don’t have the patience to. He has a father who takes care of his needs when I’m too tired to do so. Our son is blessed with a loving and endearing father and he shows how happy he is to have him as his dad.

We don’t celebrate grandly, no luxurious trips, dinners, parties or whatsoever... but we are happy. We are contented with whatever God has given us. He has given us the gift of family, one that we have all learned to cherish and take care of.

Family Over Career

When I met my husband, we were both at the top of our careers. We were young and successful and we were at the top of our game. Then when we got married, we have learned to slow down a bit. Our priorities changed, we became family oriented instead of work-oriented.

Some people would see it in a negative note but I see it in a positive one. We have chosen the path of family oneness. A life some people would never understand because we live in a world where career is very important for survival.

We choose different paths in life and ours is the path to inner happiness. I have seen a lot of successful people; both husband and wife are successful in their careers while their sons or daughters are also busy with their own lives.

Some families manage to pull it through living like this, but some who doesn’t end up in separation and indifference towards each other.

There are those families who are like us, simple and contented. These families don’t have the riches and luxury of career oriented families, but they manage to pull it through from the daily challenges of economic shortness.

The Challenge of Having a Family

Having a family is a challenge in itself. A woman has to give up some things that she used to have or do when she was still young and single and a man also has to put up with all the changes family life brings. It’s a daily adjustment, a daily dose of trial-and-error, a daily learning for the whole family.

In the end, the most important thing is having a family that is intact and happy. I know some families have already gone through the process of separation, which comes with different reasons. Some get separated because of work and some because of “irreconcilable differences.”

No matter what the reasons are, the only thing I hope for is for the children to still feel that they still have a mother and a father after all the hurdles.

A family, whether they be together or not is always bonded by the presence of a mother, a child and a father. For those who still lack the middle factor in the equation, feel comfort in the fact that we can all be parents in our own unique ways. Parenthood is not just a physical thing; it is an emotional and spiritual thing.

Happy Dad's Day!

For all the fathers and the men who sacrifice and work hard for their family, my salute to all of you! Happy Father’s Day!
