When You Reach Your Dream

A HUMBLE BEGINNING

There was once a little girl named Ynes who lived in a remote village with her parents and siblings.

They lived a simple life away from the busy city life out there. Her parents were simple farmers who grew various types of fruits and vegetables in their small land.

Ynes is the third among 6 siblings but despite being in the middle, she was a sweet and responsible daughter to her parents.

She was the smartest and most diligent among all her other siblings. At such a young age of 12, she already knew the hardships of life.

Sometimes she would go out with her peers and sell some home-made brooms that their parents also made out of one of their spare time.

Ynez and her friends would usually walk to town carrying their home-made brooms on their backs.

At the end of each day, they would again walk back home with no more brooms to carry back home if they were lucky selling everything for the day.

Her parents knew Ynez wasn’t supposed to be doing those things because she was still so young.

She should be enjoying her youth and be going to school just like other normal kids.

But they were just so poor to afford all the necessities needed for education. They could hardly make ends meet.

THE BEGINNING OF A LIFE EXPEDITION

As Ynez grew older, she began to see life in a different way. She began to have dreams of her own. She hoped of having a comfortable life someday.

By the time she turned 16, she decided to try out her luck somewhere else away from their village. She went to see her rich aunt in the city.

After a few minutes of conversation and with her aunt, she finally found the courage to speak up. She begged her aunt if she could become one of her household helps.

After much deliberation, her aunt finally decided to take her in. Ynez became an all-around household in her aunt’s place.

She took care of everything from taking care of her aunt’s kids, cooking, cleaning the house, and doing the laundry.

THE HARDSHIPS OF LIFE

Ynez had such a hard life as a young girl. She wasn’t able to enjoy the perks of childhood and teenage years because she had to work in order to live.

Despite all the hardships, Ynez never gave up. She stayed with her aunt until she became older and more mature.

A LIFETIME COMPANY

One day, Ynez met the person she would spend the rest of her life with. He was the young and handsome new gardener of her aunt.

Together they shared their dreams of wanting to have a better life in the future and worked as hard as they can every day.

Then they decided to get married with the blessing of their parents and Ynez’s aunt.

Her aunt was kind enough to have allowed them to still stay in her house after getting married.

They lived in her aunt’s basement and still continued serving her until they finally had a child.

Ynez still continued her job as an all-around household help, often carrying her baby on her back while she worked while her husband found another job as an encyclopedia salesman.

A PAINFUL GOODBYE

One day they finally decided to leave her aunt’s place in search for other opportunities in life.

As painful as it was for them to be leaving her aunt, they had to leave and move on with their life for a brighter future.

Then, as if a miracle has hit them; Ynez’s aunt offered to give her a piece of land where they could begin their new life as a family.

It was given for them as a reward for all the years of hard work and patience in serving her and her family.

Tears rolled down Ynez’s eyes when the day finally came that they were leaving her aunt. She was very thankful for all the help and chances her aunt has given her.

A NEW BEGINNING

Until now, Ynez and her family still live on that piece of land her aunt gave her. She is now old but she can still remember the kindness and generosity her wonderful aunt has showed her.

Ynez has gone a long way from the small girl who once dreamed of a comfortable life to the old woman who has a lot of wisdom to share now.

After leaving her aunt’s place, Ynez and her husband worked hard to achieve a much comfortable state of life.

She ventured into the business of direct selling while her husband ventured into the corporate world.

When her husband already had a steady income and a good position at work, Ynez finally decided to stay at home and take care of her family’s needs.

HAPPY AND CONTENTED

She wasn’t able to finish school but she says that she regrets nothing in her life.

She is now living a much comfortable life compared to her life before and she couldn’t wish for anything more.

They might not be rich, powerful, and famous but they are happy.

They were able to provide a good education for their children and now they are contented grandparents to their grandchildren.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY

So what is the moral of the story? If you look at it, the characters in the story are not famous, they’re not rich either and they’re definitely not powerful.

Most life stories which end up in popular magazines, TV shows or blogs are the ones that usually end with the characters becoming successful people at the top of their chosen careers.

But this story is different. It is also real, it happened in real life but the only difference with other stories is that this is a story of average people.

This story depicts the life of people who, despite not being at the top of their game are happy and contented.

Success and happiness doesn’t always come in numbers or quantity.

It’s not how much money you have in the bank, how many cars you drive, how many houses you own and how famous or powerful you are.

Ynez and her husband represent the average person who reaches his/her dream and not wanting for more.

She dreamed of a comfortable life and now she has it. She has a family that loves her, a house to live in, grand children to pass on her wisdom to, and a healthy mind and body despite her old age.
